The Three Fates

Today I learned about the Three Fates.

One was the spinner of the string for life.

One measured how long your life should be.

And the last one cut it for your death.

I also heard about them in Percy Jackson.

Acropolis - August 16

Today we got up early and went to the Acropolois.  It would have been hot if we had waited until later. It was a long walk up, but it was really cool (there was also a breeze blowing).  The Acropolois was built for Athenia.

We saw two big theaters.  We were able to go into one and walk around, but we could not go into the other one.  The one below is still used.

This is the Temple for Athenia - It was so big and really cool.  We got to walk all the way around it, but we couldn't go in.

I should build a Temple for my Mommy!

We saw a cute kitty on the Acropolois.  There are kitties and doggies everywhere we go.

Athens - August 14th

Today we started to explore Athens.  We are only 10 minutes from so many cool sites!  We started at Hadrian's Archway.  We then went to the Zeus Temple.  There used to be over 100 Pillars, but only 15 are still standing, but one is laying down.  It was a really big temple but I don't know how they built it.  We also a lot of broken pieces of stones and one looked like a large foot.

Then we went on a long walk through the National Gardens and saw a sign for a playground!  It was hard to find since there were so many trails.  Before we found the playground we found a little zoo with birds, goats and bunnies. We found a small parrot that was blue and white - like the color's of Greece. Then we came upon a Turtle pond.  There were so many pretty turtles and a baby turtle that was really cute.  We also saw a turtle that looked like it escaped.  It was really neat.

Athens is full of Cats - we saw the one below at the Zeus Temple.  We love cats and I am happy that we get to see so many

Welcome to Rome!

First we took a train ride from our town to Rome - a little over an hour!

When we got there it was easy to find the Hop On Hop Off bus.  So, we hopped on and hopped off!  We saw a lot of things on our trip.  It got really hot around lunchtime so we found our hotel and relaxed, and mommy had a long rest.  Then around 4 we headed out for more adventures.  We got back on the Hop On Hop Off bus and went to the Coliseum.  When we got there, I saw a Gladiator!  It was really cool.

We then went out to eat.  I had some noodles - it was scrumptious.  Then we found a special fountain and I threw a 2 cent coin into it (Fontana di Trevi).  We then walked back to our hotel and rested.

The next morning we had a huge breakfast and left with a chocolate muffin - it was so yummy.  We then went on our tour of the Vatican, it was really fun.  I stayed with the tour guide almost the entire time.  We saw a really big Church (St. Peter's Basilica), painting and carvings.  We saw a really old carving (Mary holding Jesus by Michelangelo - Pieta) but someone had hurt it years ago, so it was behind a glass wall.  A lot of other stuff you could get really close to and touch - I liked that.

We then went out to lunch and then we got our train home.  We had an awesome time in Rome!

Hiking to a castle, becoming a knight and riding a dragon (2 July)

Today I hiked to a castle. It was really long, very steep and very hard.

At the castle I looked at the ruins and tried to pull a sword out of a rock.

At the museum I dressed in knight's armor and then I was made a knight.

After that I went out to the playground and rode a dragon. It water dragon and shot water out of his nose. I tried to spray my sisters with the water.

Bike Riding (26 June)

Today I went bike riding with my family.

I rode my bike next to the Rhine River. I had to go on a really tiny path next to the road. I was a little scared and then I fell off my bike. But I was okay and got back on my bike.

We saw the Lorely rock.

On the way home we took a ferry across the Rhine River to the town of Kaub. It was fun riding my bike onto the ferry.

I rode for a long way - 15 miles. My legs were shaky when I turned my bike back in.
